The ACPA Annual General Meeting is open to all members and to anyone interested in the ACPA.

 

Lunch: A light lunch will be served at 12:00 noon. This lunch is free to members and their guests.

 

Speaker: Lunch will be followed at 1:00 PM by our guest speaker, Steve Larter. Dr. Larter is a Canada Research Chair in Petroleum Geology at the University of Calgary. Additional information about his talk and a biography of Dr. Larter will be available in the ACPA AGM flyer .

Consider an exciting opportunity to help your Association by serving as a member of the ACPA Board of Directors. Four director positions are available for a three-year term.

 

The nomination form for 2013 is available on the bottom of the Board of Directors page on the ACPA website.

 

Nominations are open and will close May 1, 2013.

 

Any nominations from the membership must be received at the ACPA office by May 1, 2013, together with the written consent of the nominee, who must be a member in good standing. Each nomination must be signed by at least three (3) members in good standing. The three sponsoring members may fax, mail or e-mail separate copies of the nomination sheet with their signature and the name of the nominee, if they cannot all sign a single copy.

 

Election ballots will be issued by May 16, 2013. The new Board will be installed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 15, 2013.

President-Elect

The ACPA Board is happy to announce that Maurice Shevalier has accepted the position of President - Elect. He will take over the position of President from Chris Swyngedouw after the AGM in June.  

 

 

Professional Ethics for Chemists

Ethics course 2012

Nils Petersen instructs a Professional Ethics class in May 2012.

The ACPA will be offering two courses in professional ethics this fall; one each in Calgary and Edmonton.The one-day course and exam will become a mandatory requirement for regulated membership categories in the future. Watch for details coming soon. 

 

 

ACPA Short Course on Flow Assurance Chemistry

  

The ACPA ran a second highly successful two-day short course on Flow Assurance Chemistry (the chemistry associated with assuring the flow of heavy oils in pipelines and processing systems) in Edmonton on March 12 and 13, 2013. The course focused on the precipitation and deposition of waxes and asphaltenes along with the techniques for deposit prevention and remediation.Thanks to Abdel Kharrat, P.Chem. and Kamran Akbarzadeh, P.Eng. for sharing their considerable knowledge in this area of expertise for the benefit of the course participants and the ACPA. Both instructors work for Schlumberger.
