Would you
like to help bring chemistry to life for Alberta Students?
Alberta Science Network's vision is to bring science to life for
kids through hands-on activities and to provide educators with
tools and resources to get kids excited about science. By providing
unique face-to-face experiences between grades K-12 students and
teachers and subject matter experts, we increase students' interest
in science, their understanding of STEM (science, technology,
engineering and math) concepts, and their knowledge of STEM
careers. We also increase teachers' understanding of science and
provide them with hands-on ways to bring curriculum to life in
their classrooms.
Alberta
Science Network is looking to build a partnership with the
Association of the Chemical Profession of Alberta in order to
identify, recruit and support volunteers in delivering
presentations throughout Alberta, particularly in the following
regions:
- Red Deer
- Calgary
- Lethbridge
- Medicine Hat
Our vision
is to develop a close network of 10-12 volunteer presenters
throughout Alberta who are specialists in the field of Chemistry
and are willing to present "Chemistry
All Around You"
presentations to schools in their regions on an annual basis.
Volunteers could agree to present as few as four presentations or
as many as ten, depending on time availability and interest.
Alberta Science Network would support all volunteers by providing
training and funding for materials, as well as kilometre
reimbursement for travel outside their home communities.
If this
sounds like an exciting opportunity to you, please apply here.
