ACPA Partners with the Alberta Science Network

Alberta Science Network's Scientists & Engineers-in-the-Classroom program offers students the unique opportunity to meet scientists and engineers face-to-face! Volunteer engineers, scientists and technologists give curriculum-related presentations that include hands-on activities and information about traditional and emerging careers to one classroom at a time.

Our volunteers are an amazing variety of skilled individuals ranging from an optometrist to a flight instructor. One of our most dedicated volunteers and a great example to new presenters is Peter Wright - a retired chemist. He generously commits to a regular presentation schedule and receives overwhelmingly positive feedback from teachers and students - resulting in requests for repeat visits year after year.

Classroom Chemistry is one of the topics for which ASN receives a large number of requests. Interested in joining us? ASN provides volunteer training, resource materials and support; presentation experience is not required - just your enthusiasm!

If you are passionate about science see http://albertasciencenetwork.ca/involved.html and find out how you can get kids excited about science!

Have you registered for your Ethics Course?

All current ACPA members must take this course by the end of 2016. Over 200 members still need to take this course and we can only take 25 to 30 people at a time, so don't wait. Complete yours now.

ACPA Receives Government Grant

The ACPA has recently been awarded a grant of close to $50,000 from the Alberta Government through the Foreign Qualification Recognition Innovation Fund. The money will be used to develop an online Jurisprudence Learning Module for chemists. The module should be ready in January 2017.

NEW Member Benefits

The ACPA has been working hard to identify some new member benefits.

We now offer a discount card from Mark's Image Wear for ACPA members. Cards are available at ACPA courses and events, from Board members and from the ACPA office.

Park'N Fly Airport Parking is pleased to extend its corporate discount program to ACPA members. Members can use the discount code (#828974) for both

business and leisure travel. If you travel frequently, you can save even more by joining the Rewards Program.

Visit our website for more information. Sign in to your account and view under Member Only Benefits.

Coming soon: a retirement benefit plan for members over 55 and a new Professional Liability Insurance plan.

Job Postings

Job postings are listed in the Careers page on the ACPA website. Please check this web page regularly for new postings that may have tight application deadlines.

Job advertisements are posted on the ACPA website for a three-month period. A $100 fee is charged for this service, but this fee will be waived for advertisements submitted by ACPA members in good standing (Professional Chemists or Chemists-in-Training) on behalf of their organizations. Ads may be e-mailed directly to the ACPA office.
